Everything Bagel Biscuits
Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 25 minutes Yield: 15 biscuits
INGREDIENTS
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tbs sugar
1 cup cold butter, grated
2 eggs, whisked
1/4 cup half and half cream
3/4 herb and garlic cream cheese, softened
1-2 tbs everything bagel seasoning
1 egg white, for brushing
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 400 F. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and grated butter. Mix with your hands to just coat the butter in the flour.
Add in the egg and half and half. Mix until the wet ingredients are just combined, the dump onto a clean surface. Knead until a dough is formed.
With a rolling pin, roll the dough out to a large sheet. Spread the dough with the softened cream cheese, then fold the dough in half, then in half again. Cut the dough in 2 equal pieces, then stack on top of each other. Use the rolling pin the gently flatten the dough a bit, then roll to a 4 1/2 inch sheet. Cream cheese will likely spill out of the dough during this process - you can simply press it back in. This dough is very forgiving.
Use a round biscuit or cookie cutter to cut out 12-15 biscuits. Place on a parchment or foil lined baking tray, and brush with the egg white. Sprinkle evenly with the everything bagel seasoning and bake for 25 minutes, or until the top has browned. Serve warm with butter, honey and jam.
